About the Company
After 5 years of working in the business world, creating new deals, completing projects, exploring work environments big and small, I was wretched.
Nothing seemed to excite me when I woke up in the morning. At one point, I knew the life of an employee no longer sits well with me, and — my leap of faith has became Manyo Flowers. Perhaps this is a familiar prelude to a startup story, but if you were once in my spot, you would know that we only have one life to live, and before it ends, I just want to look back to know that I have used those blessed years in this realm wisely.
Why flowers? I was asked frequently in the first few months of market research and when explaining my choice to family and friends. Well, try giving yourself a moment to think hard: what is the one thing in life that you are fond of, so much so that it's probably not a pain to spend your time (and what I really mean is the moments of your life that are perpetually dissipating) to work on, live with and strive for. Flowers come to mind in recollections of my Durham years. I used to buy a small bunch of flowers or two, fortnightly, as a ritual to reset my room for thesis writing. Flowers were the evanescent but understanding witness of some of my toughest hours. Precisely because flowers don't last long, they remind us to live the moment and give us the courage to bloom albeit fragile, with passion.
本是一介書生，卻在商界努力了五年，談成過生意、完成過大項目，也見識過各種規模的職場生態，但我感到前所未有的空虛、疲倦。那段日子，每天早晨醒來都找不到一絲動力，直到某個瞬間我清楚意識到，這種安穩領薪水的生活，我再也接受不了。我放手一搏，單憑相信，就開了「萬葉花卉」。或許這聽起來只是個老掉牙的創業開場白，但如果你也曾有過同樣的掙扎，你就會明白：人生只有一次，在謝幕之前，我只想在回首時能篤定地說，我沒有虛度這段白白賜與我的歲月。
為什麼選擇花？在最初幾個月做市場調查，或是向親友解釋我的決定時，我常被問到。那麼，你也不防試著心無旁騖地想一想：生命中是否有哪件事、哪件物、哪種人對你而言是毫不令你反感的，以至於你甚至願意燃燒時間（而我想強調的時間，正是那些轉瞬即逝、一去不返，但構成你生命的分秒）去鑽研、去天天面對、去奮鬥，且不覺辛苦？
對我來說，那答案藏在英國留學時的回憶裡。那時我每兩週會買一兩束小花，作為收捨打掃房間的儀式感，就像是要以花為靈感，重整思緒準備閉關寫我的論文。在我最難熬的那些時刻，花就像是沈默卻最懂我的見證者，雖然切花的生命短暫，它們卻活得很溫柔優雅。它們活的時候，就是在提醒我們要活在當下，並賦予我們勇氣，即使自覺再脆弱，也要帶著熱情，生而綻放，不枉此行。
